The story follows a young mixed-race girl named Gwyneth who applies for a scholarship to a tennis summer camp in magical Cardiff, Wales in the United Kingdom. She is accompanied by her friend Rose on this exciting journey. The girls meet a mysterious mentor who agrees to help Gwyneth on her quest to defeat her rival and attempt to become the “Summer Camp Champ.”
The Summer Camp Champ uses the values of the game of tennis to help kids on the path to independence. These include integrity, self-discipline, a positive mindset and determination to overcome problems just like in competitive junior tennis.
This book is excellent for early readers and combines elements of fantasy and adventure within the world of tennis. I designed it to inspire a love of the game in a new generation.
